Paul The Psychic Octopus

Paul the octopusThis show was recorded prior to Paul's death and raised some very valid points as to Paul's care. Unfortunately and very sadly, Paul the Octopus died on Wednesday, October 26, 2010, albeit peacefully whilst asleep in his tank.

Paul, a 'psychic' octopus from a Sea Life Centre in Oberhausen, Germany, has taken the world by storm. He was hatched from an egg in Weymouth, UK, in 2008 and began predicting the outcome of matches involving Germany's national football team soon after.

Following his two-in-three accuracy during the 2008 UEFA European Championships, Paul correctly predicted the outcome of all the 2010 FIFA World Cup matches put before him.

There have been some animal rights rumblings over Paul the Octopus whilst another theory is that he is in fact possessed and the spirit controlling him is enjoying the attention, feeding off the energy of Paul's massive fame.

Whatever the theories, is the Octopus being subject to undue stress with all the attention and fame because if he is, there is a strong possibility that he will eventually lose his 'psychic' powers and begin to make mistakes. Would it perhaps be fairer to let Paul live quietly in peace as an ordinary octopus and leave his crystal football behind?
